Workshop Dinner

29 07 2009

Last night’s workshop dinner featured a barbeque, a caricaturist, a magician who wowed us at our tables and karaoke until late (for those who could manage it!).

Not sure quite what caption to give this image from the evening…?

Monday Night Social

23 07 2009

Rose and CrownWill you be in Essex on the Monday night before the event starts?

If so we are going to be meeting up in the Rose and crown pub in Wivenhoe (The Quay, Wivenhoe, Colchester, Essex, CO7 9BX) from 7pm. Food is available till 8pm. After 8 our options are fish and chips (till 9), the Black Buoy till fairly late, and the Indian restaurant till very late. All within walking distance of the Rose and Crown.

A list of pubs and restaurants in Wivenhoe is available on the IWMW Web site.

It’s a 20 minute walk into Wivenhoe from the Campus (directions on Google maps).

Who’s up for it?!! Post a comment on the blog.

The Social Stuff

20 07 2009

Every year at IWMW people always say that it’s the social stuff that they get the most out of: the 3 Ns – networking, networking and networking! Networking is a pretty formal title for having a good time with like minded people! This year there will plenty of opportunity for doing that.

Monday 27th July 2009

Those of us who are already on campus will be heading out to some local restaurants and pubs. A good list of local venues is available from the IWMW2009 Web site. We will post more on the plans nearer the time.

Tuesday 28th July 2009

The workshop meal will be held on in a marquee in the grounds of the University. For those who haven’t been before the dress code is ‘anything goes’, though some of us do like to make a bit of an effort! No dinner jackets and ball gowns necessary (unless they are your attire of choice!) We are still sorting out your entertainment but hopefully it will be good fun and something to remember!

Wednesday 29th July 2009

There will be a drinks reception at the The Moot Hall, the Town Hall, Colchester. Coach pick up for the drinks reception at Moot Hall is from Car Park A on campus near the accommodation at 6.45 pm sharp. The drinks reception begins at 7 pm.

Afterwards there is free time in which delegates can eat at one of the many restaurants in Colchester. Delegates will have to make their own way back to campus by bus or taxi.

Has anyone got any recommendations?
